The Cumberland is a small traditional bar in the heart of the New Town, and caters mainly to local worthies, city gents, lawyers and the better-off university students. The well-polished pumps, dark wood and various pub curios give it an aura of bygone drinking days. It stocks an excellent range of whiskeys and some fine drought beers. High standards abound, it is no surprise that it has won Edinburgh Pub of the Year in the past. Try the superb pies or other Scots favorites on the menu. You won't be distracted from a boardgames battle by loud music and when the sun appears, head for the wee beer garden.
