Freshwater Beach and its locally loved ocean rockpool can provide a relaxed respite from its generally busy neighbour in Manly. This northern beaches gem can be found at the head of Curl Curl Board walk just north of Freshwater Beach, with the picturesque spot placing you into the middle of the sea with endless ocean views in front of you. Here, you'll be splashing around in a simple 50-metre pool in which you can stand and soak — or take off for a few laps if you're looking for a workout.

On the northern end of Freshwater Beach, this 50-metre ocean pool sits below the cliff-top Freshwater Lookout. It’s concrete on all sides and perfect for swimming laps as there are lane markings on all eight lanes and the water is pleasant and clear, especially when the sun is out.

The beach at Freshwater Beach—“Freshie” to locals—is beloved among surfers for its decent beach break, but swimmers gravitate towards the sea pool nestled on a rocky platform against a cliff at the northern end of the beach. On the grand tour of Sydney sea pools, it’s one of the more serious venues—Olympic-sized and with lanes marked on its concrete floor. For a hundred years people have stroked up and down this pool, one of the first to be built on the Northern Beaches.
