This 85-acre park provides stellar, up-close views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, the East River and Downtown Manhattan. You'll find inventive playgrounds throughout the waterside park, a roller rink, athletic courts, lush plantings and open fields. Pier 6 is the place to be for a water play area, a giant "sandbox", climbing structures, Slide Mountain and Swing Valley. Fornino's Pizza is a great place to refuel and chill here.

Your little pirates will love this nautical-themed playground located in the shadow of the Manhattan Bridge at Pier 1. Climb aboard the ship-shaped playground equipment and peep through portholes, race across bridges, or whiz down the twisty slide. A boat-shaped sandbox provides yet another spot for sunny day diversions.

This 85-acre park is one of Brooklyn’s best-loved attractions. Wrapping itself around a 1.3-mile bend on the East River, the post-industrial site runs from just beyond the far side of the Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo to the west end of Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Heights. It's revitalized a once-barren stretch of shoreline, turning a series of abandoned piers into landscaped parkland with jaw-dropping views of Manhattan. There's lots to see and do here, with playgrounds, walkways and lawns galore.

A stunning view of both the Brooklyn Bridge and the iconic Manhattan skyline is what sets Brooklyn Bridge Park apart from the rest. Visitors can get to the park by subway, car, or the NYC Ferry, making it an easily accessible destination. As Brooklyn natives, our favorite pastime growing up was to enjoy the waterfront views and family-friendly activities at Brooklyn Bridge Park, including ice cream, outdoor yoga, kayaking, and playgrounds.

While not exactly a playground, Pier 3 is worth checking out with the kids for at least a couple of reasons. First, it's the final pier to be converted to park space in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Second, it's home to numerous interactive pieces, many of which happen to demonstrate scientific principals of sound and light. On one part of the pier, hedges of various shapes and sizes create a natural labyrinth with surprises around every turn.

Brooklyn Bridge Love Locks: It seems that any fashionable city has a bridge with metal locks affixed to it. Started in the 1990s, Brooklyn joined this elite club that includes Paris, Amsterdam, and Kyiv. You can affix your own love lock there, but expect that it will be cut off just like the rest of the locks in order to preserve the structural integrity of the bridge. The best time to go if you'd like to avoid crowds is at sunrise.
