Urbe, the Mexican restaurant inspired by Mexico-City street food from the team behind Hugo’s, is in Uptown, and it’s a nice place for lunch when you don’t want to eat at the absurdly expensive restaurants by the Galleria Mall. The dining room’s breezy, high ceilings and light colored wood make Urbe feel like nonstop summertime, and there’s also a cute little patio. We’ve experienced some inconsistencies with the food here, but the most exciting dishes at Urbe are small plates like queso flameado with tender brisket and charred brussel sprouts coated in just enough spice to make you sweat. If you’re in the Uptown neighborhood and desperately need a shaken margarita by a bar with a skylight to help fill your vitamin D quota, Urbe is the place for you. Otherwise, you can get the same sort of feeling (and more dependably good food) from its sister restaurant Caracol, a Mexican restaurant that focuses on seafood, about five minutes away in the Galleria neighborhood.
