Under a neon-red glow, a vintage “Pastificio” sign nods to this industrial-chic space’s former use as a pasta factory. Bar Nico’s founders left the fashion industry to open an effortlessly cool, no-reservations hangout that has quickly become a favorite of the city’s creators and designers. If you’re lucky, you may even get a glimpse of the ever-chic Nico, the namesake Afghan hound immortalized in the bar’s logo. A raw concrete bar doubles as the unofficial kitchen island, all cold slate grey and steel at first, but warmed up by wooden chairs and wine bottles doing an impression of candleholders at a séance. The wine list leans into naturals from France and Italy, perfectly paired with plates of salumi, cheese, and seasonal dishes, like labneh with beets and concord grapes. Wear your best Sunnei sweater, and join the streetside crowd waiting for tables, glasses clinking like camera flashes during Fashion Week.
