Chaat is front and center at Jalebi Street, a casual Indian spot in the Haight that’s always packed with big groups splitting spreads of street snacks and curries. The vegetarian restaurant nails everything coming out of a fryer, like the balloon-sized chole bhature that deflates with a sigh, and ultra-crackly pani puri. And, of course, the titular jalebi, which arrives sticky-sweet and thoroughly soaked in saffron syrup—it’s a mandatory way to finish a meal. Just make sure to save room for the curries, like silky dal makhani and paneer butter masala that balance out the small plates.
