If you’re a Westside sushi head, add Soko to the to-do list. This Japanese spot attached to the Fairmont Hotel was built into what used to be Bungalow’s storage closet. Once you’re seated at the hushed eight-seat bar, you’ll forget you’re sandwiched between a hotel and the bro-iest bar in LA. You could casually swing by for some fatty tuna cut rolls and a couple of nigiri, but the quality of fish here is so good, it’s worth upgrading to the proper omakase or the “Dream Box.” The latter is 18 pieces of sashimi (two slices of each fish) and rice served bento style—perfect for sharing with someone you’re trying to impress who has adopted the term “aesthetic,” but also appreciates really good sushi.
