If Al Garghet were located in the center of Milan, we’d probably never get a reservation. Thankfully, this old farmhouse is about a half hour away, making it a little more doable. It’s hard to choose what we love more—dining in a red, festive room during the holidays, or being out on the flower-filled patio in the summertime—but there’s one thing you can always count on: the ossobuco with risotto alla milanese. It comes with the works: succulent veal shank layered on luxurious risotto, a tiny spoon for the marrow, and gremolata for an extra kick. If the menu weren’t so traditionally Milanese, we’d forget we were even in the city.
