Originally the laundry facility for the neighboring El Cortez casino (rumor has it Frank Sinatra and Bugsy Siegel had their suits cleaned here), this bar behind a false wall inside Commonwealth feels like it was only recently uncovered. Drinks here employ a small laboratory’s worth of syrups, creams, and herbs that play nicely with spirits. They include the Masala Mama, a spicy blend of scotch, maple, and curry, or the Voodoo, smooth and sweet with allspice, pineapple, and a cookie-like finish. Reservations are essential, and limited, so you should plan at least a couple weeks in advance.
