This intimate South Lamar venue has survived a location change, rent hikes, and the congestion of a block that won’t stop building massive apartment complexes. Inside, the down-home Austin spirit is alive and well. Shows rarely cost more than $20—some are even free—and you can usually walk right in to see a country singer, a blues-rock group, or a Dave Matthews tribute band playing for a crowd nursing draft beers. Saxon Pub is also within walking distance to some of our favorite restaurants, including Odd Duck, Ramen Tatsu-Ya, and Uchi.
