Liberty University is a private, non-profit Christian university located in Lynchburg, Virginia, United States. It is classified as a doctoral research university by the Carnegie Classification. In August 2016, Liberty's enrollment was expected to include 15,000 residential students and over 100,000 online students, and is the largest evangelical Christian university in the world. Liberty's athletic teams compete in Division I of the NCAA and are collectively known as the Liberty Flames.
