Unicoi State Park & Lodge is a 1,050-acre state park located immediately north-northeast of Helen, Georgia in the northeastern portion of the state. The centerpiece of the park is 53-acre Unicoi Lake on Smith Creek. The park is especially popular in October, when the autumn leaves in the forest change colors. Entry to the park is from Georgia 356, just off of Georgia State Route 75.

This was our first time at Unicoi. We arrived at mid morning and went to the visitors center campground check in. The front door was locked but had a note saying to continue around the walkway to the
UNICOI is a unique park in some ways. But it was underwhelming as a tent camper. The sites don't have electricity, but the price is the same as at other sites. Additionally, only one of the 40+ tent .
A visit to Helen, Georgia is strange - Waay too kitchie, what with the sham theme of the little German village contrasted with the otherwise-ordinary selection of the same over-priced lodging choices.
