Von Elrod’s is a massive beer hall in Germantown that feels like it’s celebrating Oktoberfest year-round. The brick-lined warehouse space is stacked with varnished picnic tables that stretch the length of the room and a covered outdoor patio that’s dog-friendly. Not to mention there are fun touches like cornhole boards, a food truck for easily accessible things like pretzels and sausages, and the occasional jumbo screen for special events. This is all to say, bring as many people (and doggos) as you want without worrying too much about reservations. The menu leans heavily into German-style beer garden bites and expands on what’s offered at the food truck. Which means, yes, excellent brats and homemade pretzels, but also a solid cowboy burger and dry-rubbed, smoked wings with a hit of spice to go with your stein of beer.
