Yetz’s Bagels is a funny place. This Isla Vista bagel shop near UCSB has hemp leaves painted on its walls and crusty-eyed students grabbing breakfast before longboarding to chem lab. They’re lucky to have a place like this near campus, though, because Yetz’s New York-style bagels are excellent. The insides are spongy and soft, with a wonderfully snappy exterior. We like them on their own with cream cheese, but Yetz’s sandwiches are hard to pass up. There’s the Deluxe—a spot-on classic with lox—plus more robust options, like the Gaucho with folded eggs, garlicky pesto aioli, and pico de gallo.
