Montaluce is far more of an adult playground than a winery. Sure, they have plenty of sippable estate blends (like the dry Tramonto rosé with a fruity finish) and several beautiful outdoor areas with bonfires and grape vines as far as the eye can see. But they also have rentable overnight villas, on-site activities (like wine hikes and curated picnics), a small market, and two restaurants, so prepare to hear a chorus of "can we please stay a little longer" from your wine trip buddies. If you’re here for a nice dinner, make a reservation at their main restaurant, which offers upscale dishes like lamb chops and elk wellington. And if you just need a quick bite to tide you over, the more casual trattoria serves a tasty shrimp risotto and decent-enough pizza. Nourishment is a good idea since it’s easy to spend an entire day exploring Montaluce, so save this one for a more leisurely day trip when you’re in the mood to slowly sip through their wide variety from chardonnay to apple wine to syrah.
