The Silver Medal is a real honest-to-goodness dive bar—and it’s most certainly not a fancy bar pretending to be a dive like you’d find in East Austin. Right off the scenic 290 frontage road in Coronado Hills, this spot has Lone Star on draft, $2 Jello shots, and killer Happy Hour deals. It’s blissfully open until 2am. But don’t even bother asking for an Old Fashioned (there's not a single bottle of bitters to be found). The extent of technology here is a television and a jukebox, but amazingly this place does in fact accept credit cards. You should definitely order one of the very good smashburgers here, or maybe a chili dog, and for our vegetable-eating friends, there’s even a vegetarian menu with Beyond Meat patties and veggie dogs.
