Sushi Hatsune in Chinatown makes a chirashi with loads of ikura, pleasantly sweet cubes of tamago, and two different kinds of pickles. It’s chock-full of buttery fatty toro, slightly-cured salmon, and rich-and-sweet unagi over perfectly-seasoned sushi rice sprinkled with sesame seeds—it’s a bowl of fish that has exponentially increased our chirashi expectations. If you live in lower Manhattan, this is a sushi spot you should know about (they also have locations in FiDi and the West Village). Go with that chirashi bowl, a $49 sashimi deluxe platter with around 21 pieces, or a three-roll combo for $25, and consider adding on an unreal piece of chu toro with ponzu and radish. Their takeout business is prolific, but for a low-key meal with quality sushi, it's a good dine-in option too.
