We’ve been to so many birthday parties at Night Tales that it might as well be called ‘That Place In Hackney Where We Sing Happy Birthday And Leave Mild Love Interests Six-Minute Voice Notes’. And yet, there’s a reason why so many people are partial to en masse celebrations at this supersized cocktail bar. Not only is it 10,000 square feet—nope, not hyperbole—it has foliage and fairy lights in abundance, and all the different areas give it a fun choose-your-own adventure feel. There’s the massive, semi-outdoor terrace that looks and feels like a buzzing street market, the bookable private side areas packed out with yet more birthday parties, and then the distinctly loud, throbbing club area that fills up with sweaty dance parties come late. But we like this place best when it’s in full early-evening swing in the summer, nibbling on pretty standard pizza between rounds of Asahi and cocktails whose sticky, sugar value you’ll ignore because you’re having such a nice time with every single member of your friendship group. They’ll all fit—that’s the perk of this huge, high-energy space.
