Rome’s Hotel Eden was already worthy of the name — it’s been among the leading lights of Roman luxury hospitality since its opening at the end of the 19th century. Today it’s a member of the Dorchester Collection, a name that’s familiar indeed to patrons of high-fashion luxury hotels. Designers Bruno Moinard and Claire Bétaille were also at the wheel for the reinvention of the Plaza Athénée in Paris, and in their confident hands today’s Eden remains as glamorous as ever. The public spaces are suitably dazzling, while the rooms and suites opt for a look that’s a touch more contemporary but still far from minimalist, and always unmistakably high-end. The location, not far from the top of the Spanish Steps, makes for some impressive views, perhaps none more so than the ones on offer in the restaurant, La Terrazza, whose fine dining concept is highly elevated, in both senses of the word. Hotel Eden belongs among the ranks of Rome’s top luxury hotels, and like its namesake, it’s a place you’ll wish you never had to leave.
