About

Some other Swiss Alpine towns seem to exist solely for the pleasure of the wealthy and glamorous, but Adelboden is less about opulence and more about the classic pleasures of a mountain town. It’s fitting, then, that Adelboden’s top luxury hotel is as substantial as it is stylish. The Brecon superficially resembles a classic Alpine lodge, but it’s in its interiors, by the Dutch design firm Nicemakers, that it begins to set itself apart, combining mid-century modernist gestures and chic contemporary design pieces with the warmth you expect from a Swiss mountainside hotel. With just 22 rooms it’s relatively intimate in size, and while it’s not a private club per se, it does feel uncommonly hospitable; the all-inclusive food and beverage policy does inspire a relaxed and flexible approach to dining and drinking. There’s a spa that’s reserved for guests only, complete with a rooftop swimming pool, and naturally all the attractions of the Alps, from hiking and biking to skiing and other wintertime adventures, lie right at your feet.
