Straddling the gap between dive bar (they serve burgers) and nightclub (there’s a dance floor in the back), The Iron Bear caters to, well, bears. But the couple who owns the 4th Street-adjacent gay spot has cultivated a chill, welcoming space for all body types and personalities, with more of a hangout vibe than you’ll find at Rain or Coconut Club a couple of blocks over. More food, too, with a full menu of decent pub bites like wings, hot dogs, and quesadillas. There’s a little something for everyone: underwear parties, leather nights, and DJ sets, or trivia, poker, and 99-cent wings on Wednesdays. The Iron Bear also has a rare Friday happy hour, with half-price appetizers and $3 pints from 5-8pm.
