This is your grandfather’s candy store, and we mean that as a compliment. This Coney Island institution, open since 1941, boasts a fittingly nostalgic lineup of homemade goodies, like cotton candy, fudge, and caramel marshmallow sticks. If you sample just one treat at Williams, it should be a candy apple, made with fruit that tastes juicier and fresher than you might expect from a sugar-dipped confection. The peanut-encrusted caramel apple is delicious, with every bite traveling through three layers of crunchy, soft, and crisp. And though it's a lot sweeter, the coconut-shaving-coated candy apple is so pretty, and so classic, that it'll heal at least a few months' worth of childhood trauma. The syrup will start running down your wrist faster than you think, so prepare to take an immediate dip in the ocean.
