Smitty’s is a butcher shop on the border of Oakland Park and Fort Lauderdale that feels like stepping into a time machine. It’s old school, to say the least. There’s sawdust on the floor, you take a number for service, and the staff wear ties. You can get a lot of great meat to cook at home, but we love this place for lunch, when you can grab deli sandwiches as well as some salads every day except Saturday (and Sunday/Monday, when they’re closed). They make great and affordable sandwiches like roast beef, pastrami, turkey, and just about anything else you can dream up with the ingredients you see inside the display case. It’s all to-go, so don’t plan to eat there.
