The Rosewood Miramar Beach refers to this stretch of coastline, just to the east of Santa Barbara, as the “American Riviera,” and from within this sparkling new luxury resort it’s easy to see where they’re coming from — there’s more than a touch of Art Deco in the décor, and the south-facing beach is nothing if not idyllic. Rooms and suites, whether in the gardens or on the beach, are stylish, spacious, and exceedingly well-equipped, and the facilities are exhaustive: a Sense spa, a fitness studio with a variety of classes, a pair of swimming pools, and even some retail shops, including one from Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop brand. Two restaurants, three bars, and an ice cream shop complete the package; if you can’t find relaxation here, it’s not the Rosewood’s fault.
