When we’re with a big group, there are a few things we reliably crave: margaritas that won’t cost us an arm and a leg, and chips and guacamole to snack on between rounds. After a beach day, these desires only increase. Enter Pico in the Rockaways. The Mexican spot on Beach 129th Street makes an expertly slushy concoction, which costs $11 regularly, and $8 during weekend brunch. They also sell margaritas to go if you want to swing by before hitting the beach, but the space is also optimal for groups, with a long communal table in the center, and big booths that could easily fit seven of your closest, sandy friends. We recommend sticking to margaritas and the seasoned warm tortilla chips with guac, but the tacos are solid too. Get the shrimp Ensenada-style, with guac, pico, and crema.
