The most expensive omakase meals in LA routinely pass $300 these days, and finding anything for even half that price can feel like a novelty. But $60? For seven pieces of above-average nigiri, sashimi, two baked courses, tuna crispy rice, and a crab hand roll? That’s like stumbling into the time machine from Family Matters and blasting back to 1997. It’s also why, in our books, Sushi Spot is a Valley treasure. This tiny Tarzana sushi bar has all the elements of a Ventura Boulevard classic: slightly chaotic parking, hilarious playlists (a recent meal had us dancing in our seats to Brazilian disco), and a grainy TV playing Dodger baseball. But it’s that famously affordable omakase that makes this place a must-stop on anybody’s LA sushi bucket list.
