When modern life feels like a fast-moving hamster wheel, jump off and hit this Edgewood diner with a charming retro feel and tasty lunch and breakfast classics. Just down the street from El Tesoro, Pure Quill Superette channels the old-school luncheonette spirit with pale yellow booths, black vintage chandeliers, and Dolly Parton belting out bangers in the background. You won't find TVs buzzing here. Instead you can inspect the wall covered with vintage cigarette ads while you tear into a rice bowl topped with fried chicken liver and creamy gravy or the massive (and messy) fried cod sandwich dripping with a tangy tartar-like sauce—our favorite item on the menu. And if you want to pick up groceries for later, the superette also harkens back to a time when people said "harkens back" and shopped for all their essentials at small-town general stores. So you can also come here to pick up locally butchered meats, produce, and a variety of excellent pickled vegetables. Oh, and no one will judge if you snag a bottle of champagne to go with your hot dog.
