The Bahá'í House of Worship (or Bahá'í Temple) in Wilmette, Illinois. One of eight dedicated temples of the Bahá'í Faith, it is the oldest surviving Bahá'í House of Worship in the world, and the only one in the United States.

What a gem of a place! I visited on the architectural open house and was just in pure awe at the level of detail, with the setting beautifully on the lake
One word: GO! This is the perfect way to spend an hour in the area. The temple is free to visit every day from 10 A.M. - six P.M. The house of worship includes a temple, gardens, and a Welcome Center.
