Lagniappe is, for many of us, a place we can always count on for social hour(s). Whether you’re here to celebrate someone’s birthday, go on a first date, or meet up with a few friends, this place requires zero brain power from you—the designated planner. There are cramped jazz concerts happening nightly at 9pm inside, and fridges full of wine outside, which you grab yourself and bring to the register. There are no servers waiting tables, just squirmish guests trying to hurry up and pay so they can go secure a table outside. The outdoor space feels like it was designed by someone who's spent years snatching up patio furniture listed under the "free stuff" tab on Craigslist. Every chair and table is different from the next and, in a way, foreshadows the chaotic nature of Lagniappe’s backyard. This place is Miami’s worst-kept secret, so it’ll be saturated with bodies on any given day. And since it’s walk-in only, it’s best if you come as close to their opening time of 6pm as possible. Otherwise, you’ll have to be a watchful hawk probing for an open table that may never come.
