If you just landed at BNA and can’t convince yourself to travel more than eight minutes for hot chicken, Daddy’s in Donelson is for you. (Otherwise, we urge you to go to another spot on this guide.) They have tenders made of whole chicken breasts served traditionally on a slice of bread with a few limp pickles, sliders that come with slaw, pickles, and a comeback sauce, as well as burgers and gyros for some reason. The chicken is good—moist in the middle and surrounded by a crispy crust—but unmemorable. There are only two heat levels here: Nashville hot and Nashville We Have A Problem. Neither one is tough to survive and both will get your lips properly tingling. But the coleslaw and sides are underwhelming, so there’s no real reprieve from the heat. You’ll also eat all of this in front of a gigantic spray-painted chicken mural that’ll make you feel like you’re in a 2005 hip-hop video while staring at a giant poster of Jesus by the register. Feelings about that may vary.
