From the outside the Metropol Palace Hotel is quite visibly a relic of a bygone era. But this sort of monumental Fifties modernism is very much back in style, and today’s Metropol is not a retro curiosity, but an integral part of present-day Belgrade’s social life. Its interior spaces have been thoroughly updated, lending a bit of modern-luxe residential style to its 108 rooms and 128 suites; the Spa Center wellness complex is an unusually extensive one, and its restaurants and bars include the impressive Twenty Two, set on the hotel’s high rooftop with a commanding view of the city.
