Kaew Jao Jorm bases its menu on the royal cookbooks of the Thai court around the late 19th century. What that means is you’ll eat some excellent, and generally sweeter, takes on Thai dishes. Maybe a complimentary biscuit with coconut and pineapple jam to start, and then peanut-forward dumplings that look like purple flowers. The scenery follows the royal theme, too. There are just a few tables in the restaurant, all of which sit under floral drapery and chains of woven flowers. Even though there’s not quite enough space for a group larger than four, dishes are portioned to share. So bring some friends who want to split everything and watch a server scoop fragrant jasmine rice out of a silver chalice that looks like the Wimbledon trophy.
