There are very few restaurants in Miami that are still as good as they were on the day they opened. But this Italian spot in Coral Gables (one of our Best New Restaurants of 2021) is one of them. Luca Osteria is a place for pasta, the kind that makes you slide down your chair in bliss. Their pasta al limone and short rib pappardelle are nonnegotiables. They must be on your table at some point, along with Luca’s biggest accomplishment: the patate fritte. There’s not a single miss on this menu—from the grilled carrots with roasted pistachios, to the many pastas, all the way through to their entrées, like their herb-lemon crusted halibut. Consistency is Luca Osteria’s superpower. So it’s ideal for an it’s-getting-serious date, or dinner with picky family members who want well-executed classics. The tables outside on Giralda Plaza are still where you want to be on a crisp December night. And the small black-and-white dining room is where you can hide from the heat with an Aperol spritz in the summer months.
