Nostalgia sells, sure. But some things are timeless, like having something to do with your hands on a night out. Silverball Retro Arcade is a pinball playground that offers no-frills concessions, like a jumbo Nathan’s hot dog, burgers, and suspiciously cheap $1 wings. The only other Silverball Retro Arcade is in Asbury Park on the Jersey Shore, and the food is meant to keep your hands just greasy enough to coat their vintage pinball machines well-oiled. So don’t expect anything too mind-blowing. Each game has a placard describing the vintage games (you’ll see such gems as Kiss-themed pinball machines, Atari, and Skee-Ball). It’s a great interactive scene where both kids and adults can enjoy what life used to feel like pre-brain rot. And it’s just down the lane from the dive bar Johnny Brown’s, where more adult fun is going on.
