Bar Bushido in Norwalk has two completely different personalities. In the front is a super casual izakaya that’s made for happy hour after work or last-minute weeknight dinners. We’ve spent hours here rotating between playing Galaga at their arcade machine and ordering plate after plate of Japanese food. It’ll take multiple visits to work through their huge drink and food menu, but start with a cocktail (anything with yuzu is a winner), the Barney-purple okinawa potato salad, the shatteringly crispy karaage chicken, and a few yakitori skewers. If you’re in the mood for something a little more formal and special, make a reservation for their handroll bar in the back. With no windows and just a handful of seats, the speakeasy-ish room is our go-to for special date nights.
