Siam Kempinski fits the bill wonderfully, sequestering three spacious pools and a network of tropical gardens in an open-air atrium between its high-rise wings. That effectively doubles the balcony quotient, which in turn gives a welcome freshness to those inward-facing rooms. It’s a subtle oasis effect, amplified with a light touch in their patterned textiles, floral arrangements, and marble-on-marble bathrooms. A personal temple, in other words, to recover between tours of the city’s actual temples — or, just as likely, the Paragon shopping emporium just next door.
