An ideal night out in Dublin looks something like this: polish off a glass of wine at Coast Wine House, then walk three doors down to Gene’s, its cozy sister restaurant in an early 1900s-era home with burnt-orange velvet curtains and a handsome U-shaped bar. The always-changing menu shows off the best of Ohio’s seasonal produce—dishes might include crudo with pickled peppers, or lobster vichyssoise—though one mainstay is eggplant tonkatsu over sumac yogurt, a fan-favorite for its crunchy-soft textures. The featured steak changes frequently, but it's always worth ordering. On a recent visit, it was a sous vide New York Strip on top of potato pavé, an upscale spin on meat and potatoes. The wine list is also extensive, spanning from the Beqaa Valley in Lebanon to Napa, and the restaurant holds special events where you can interact with the winemakers, too.
