Philippe Starck has long been a fixture on the Parisian (and the global) hotel scene, and travelers have seen him in a wide variety of moods, from ultra-minimalist to pop-maximalist and everything in between. In 9Confidentiel he’s in a mood inspired by the glamorous 1920s; the rooms feature art by his daughter Ara. Of course 9Confidentiel is more than a design exhibition. The location, in the Marais, is a lovely one, and while it’s boutique-sized, 9Confidentiel is properly luxurious; in-room spa treatments by Codage complete the package. Breakfast, a café, and a cocktail bar are the extent of the food and beverage service; for restaurants, you’re well provided for by the surrounding neighborhood.
