A hidden gem within the City of London, this sweetly run restaurant is just a stone’s throw from Smithfield Market, tucked down a narrow lane inside a period house which was once home to the poet Sir John Betjeman. It’s now under the watchful eye of Chef Tom Hurst and wine merchants Joe and Ben, who operate a tightly packed space filled to the brim with a convivial atmosphere. The cooking is pared-back and ingredient-led, with fine produce like Dorset crab and Somerset lamb given the space to shine. The wine list, as you’d expect, is extensive and full of interesting choices.
