You might have heard about K’Far and its sister spots (Laser Wolf, Zahav, and Dizengoff). And if you haven’t, you’ve probably walked by the Rittenhouse cafe on a Saturday and seen the line of people waiting to order their Jerusalem bagels and kubaneh toasts. K’Far serves a great lineup of pastries, including lemon cheesecake babka, a marzipan challah danish, and some other $5-and-under treats that you’ll swaddle like a newborn baby on your way out. Every inch of the chic spot, from the glass pastry cases and gold-rimmed mirrors to the adjoining patio feels like it could be the backdrop of a magazine shoot. Friends talk about horrible dates over borekas, freelancers frantically type at the marble counter with Yemenite lattes, and local moms in their Lululemons grab their Tunisian Tuna salads to go. If it’s sunny out or the weekend, it’s one of the busiest places in the neighborhood, so try your luck on the weekdays. It’s a great choice for lunch in Rittenhouse (and one of the few places that actually lives up to the hype).
