There may now be branches of Hoppers dotted across London, but this fun little Soho spot is where the journey started – and it remains a delight. The bustling atmosphere is well-suited to a speedy, low-fuss meal, while the wallet-friendly dishes are inspired by the street food of Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu. The 'short eats' like mutton roll with chilli ketchup are packed with flavour, as are the karis, but you can't leave without trying the signature 'hopper': a bowl-shaped pancake made from fermented rice and coconut. The 'Hoppers Experience' is a great way to go for the indecisive.
