The second location of this Astoria daytime spot fits right in on the Lower East Side. Just like the original, Comfortland serves maximalist food fit for people with tiny kitchens and rough waking hours: biscuit sandwiches, thick slices of rainbow cake, and burritos. We’ve found the most success sticking to the breakfast items, particularly the sandwiches on fluffy biscuits. There’s one especially good version stuffed with fried chicken, eggs, and cheese, with just enough hot honey to get a touch of sweetness on the back end of a bite. On the other side of the spectrum, lunch options—burgers, bulgogi quesadillas, and chicken caesar wraps—are often overstuffed with meats and other toppings that sog their vehicles. But the best part of all might be that there's usually no wait, even though this Comfortland is smaller and more polished than the restaurant’s original. There are just a handful of stools rather than a bunch of tables and a projector playing movies like Halloweentown. But we’re not complaining, especially with a breakfast sandwich in hand and no delay to eat it.
