Located at the base of the Ross Island Bridge since 1963, the Original Hotcake House is the diner that once fueled (and sobered up) generations of Portland partiers. Like so many late-night institutions, the counter-service greasy spoon is no longer open 24 hours, but the vibe is still intact. We recommend the obvious option: a stack of fluffy, golden-brown hotcakes with ping pong-sized balls of butter melting into rivers of syrup, though there’s no going wrong with the two eggs, two cakes combo for the sake of variety.
