If you're looking to meet up with someone at a place that isn't a bar, isn't a coffee shop, and isn't a restaurant where you'll have to order a full meal, you should know about Mia's Brooklyn Bakery. The Cobble Hill spot is open until at least 10pm (and sometimes 11pm or 12am), and offers an overwhelming variety of cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. They're known for their strawberry shortcake, but we’re also fans of their cheesecake, which has a fudgy top and an interior as custardy as molten lava cake. There's a big dining room in the back where you can sit with a slice for a chat, but—even better—there’s a leafy backyard.
