SottoVoce proves it doesn’t take much to create a functioning wine bar. They just added tables, chairs, and a wine list to the empty alley behind Chimba. And now Midtown has a place to swirl chilled red and eat lardo on focaccia after work. If you get there between 4-6pm from Wednesday through Sunday, you can get a glass of wine for just $5. They have bottles in the $40 to $60 range, and the menu is made up entirely of cured meats and cheeses to assemble into charcuterie. It comes with toasted focaccia instead of the usual baguette slices, which we appreciate. Since it is a few blocks from Lagniappe, it’s a reliable backup option in case their backyard looks like Dadeland Mall on Black Friday.
