Don’t get distracted by the fact that Albert Einstein is pouring drinks for Daft Punk and Frida Kahlo in the chaotic mural that hangs in Levant’s dining room. No, the sizzling pans of cheese and clay pots full of slow-cooked lamb deserve to be the focal point. The Levantine restaurant on Ponce is a great option for lunch—that’s when small plates like baba ganoush, kibbeh, and cheese cigar rolls are just $5. But it’s also a wonderful date night spot for sharing skewer platters. Just make sure you order anything that comes with their house bread (thankfully, that’s just about everything). These puffed-up pita domes are chewy in the middle and charred on the bottom. We’d come back just for more bread.
