There are only a handful of great taquerias in Las Vegas—and even fewer in the suburbs—so when a good one opens, the word spreads quickly and the lines start forming. The Taco Stand is a super-casual spot to takeout or sit down (if you’re lucky) near the old Whole Foods in Summerlin. You can get burritos, quesadillas, and loaded fries, but everyone’s really there for the $4 street-style tacos like the subtly spicy, sweet al pastor cut from the spit topped with pineapple, or the flame-grilled pollo asado. Don’t overlook the garlicky sautéed mushroom taco with grilled onions and avocado for a rich, umami bite. And order a michelada or tart hibiscus agua fresca for an excuse to use the clever cupholders that rotate out from the corners of the restaurant’s tables.
