It’s hard to find a better date night spot in Mountain View than Scratch. Think romantic dark wood, lots of hanging lights, and an enormous, well-appointed bar. Star dishes include the perfectly cooked pan-seared sea scallops with a smoky jalapeño sweet potato puree and the impossibly crispy fried chicken. If daytime dates are more your thing, stop into Scratch’s weekend brunch and get the fluffy lemon ricotta pancakes. Go ahead and order them “for the table,” but we doubt you’ll want to actually share. For something more casual and a little less expensive, meet your special someone during Scratch’s Happy Hour (from 4-6pm on weekdays) and get the fried chicken sandwich and a beer for just $16, or a grilled angus cheeseburger for $10.
