Welcome Home is a Bed-Stuy bakery run by two friends who met while working at cult-favorite L’Appartement 4F, and it really does feel like they just looked at each other one day and thought, "Well, why don't we have our own bakery?" One of them takes orders inside the all-green space, filling bags with cinnamon buns and morning glory muffins, and the other pulls hot croissants from the oven, and makes butter-and-cheese sandwiches on seedy homemade bread with a nice firm crust. (They're calling that one "Seeds & Butts" for now.) We especially like the corn cookie—like a lemony cornbread topped with a toasty marshmallow—and the flaky Pig in Bed, which is just a fun name for a pig in a blanket. Come with a friend on a weekend morning, share a few things at the counter in the window, and don't miss the entire mural devoted to baked goods on your way out.
