Only one gate open (near Pont d’Avignon) and and only a small area at the top open for a panoramic view of the river the new town. Not worth the climb up the steep stairs. Such a shame!

A must to wander around but in the summer avoid midday as some areas have to shade and it is a climb to the top. Wonderful views. One viewpoint has a descriptive arc which let's you know what you are.

We went to this charming garden behind Palais des Papes. It is small with nice balustrades and a small fountain with swans. Lots of benches to sit. Panoramic views all around on a clear sunny day. We.
